But when they said, “Give us a king to lead us,” this displeased Samuel; so he prayed to the Lord. And the Lord told him: “Listen to all that the people are saying to you; it is not you they have rejected, but they have rejected me as their king. As they have done from the day I brought them up out of Egypt until this day, forsaking me and serving other gods, so they are doing to you. Now listen to them; but warn them solemnly and let them know what the king who will reign over them will claim as his rights.”
1 Samuel 8:6-9
History repeats itself.
“That which has been is what will be, That which is done is what will be done, And there is nothing new under the sun.” Eccl 1:9
The people wanted a king and God said give them one for they have not rejected you, they have rejected Me.
They have found a man, a cause, a party, another voice to listen to.
God tells Samuel to know they have chosen whom they will serve, a man as their king (Leader and provider) not God.
We as a people (supposing of GOD) have always rejected GOD. How, well we accept what God says as long as it benefits our desires. Meaning we will obey what He says in his word and commandments as long as it edifies us. Even so as soon as God has delivered us and accepted us, we leave Him out and begin to go after, follow, even worship, a man, a king, a leader or even a party, that we feel will give us what we want.
God has always provided all that we need, which no man by the way can ever do, (each breath you take, each beat of your heart).
Man promises if we follow him or his group and support them, he will give us the things we want. However, receiving his promises puts you under his control and dependent on him rather than GOD.
“And if it seems evil to you to serve the LORD, choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the River, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you dwell. But as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD.”
Joshua 24:15
"There is a way that seems right to a man, But its end is the way of death."
Proverbs 14:11
Will you choose man over GOD as well?
I pray you choose GOD and stay with Him.
Grace to you All
